GH Maurice Benard Shows Off His Softer Side by Saving a Baby Animal
General Hospital (GH) spoilers note that even as a mob boss, there have been times when Sonny Corinthos has acted as a hero.
Now, the character’s portrayer, Maurice Benard, has been dubbed one because of a real-life heroic act, thanks to spending some time with his granddaughter. More on this story, below.
Maurice Benard Teams Up With Granddaughter For The Save
Benard shared a video on social media with his TT, his granddaughter. The post shows how the two saved a baby quail. Maurice and TT are shown in the video talking about a baby quail they found, which was in the kitchen with “GG” (likely referring to Paula Smith, Benard’s wife). The video was followed by a photo of an adorable baby quail.
In the caption of the IG post, Benard writes, “We are trying to save the baby quail. It may be one of the cutest things you’ve ever seen. What should we name it?”
Of course, fans fled to the comments section, with one follower suggesting, “Sonny”, after Benard’s mobster GH alter ego, while another noted, “Quincy the Quail”, and someone else stated “Qualey”. Most everyone can agree that both the baby quail and TT were absolutely adorable!
Sonny Corinthos’s World
Right now, Benard’s GH character has a ton on his plate, not only reeling from the return of his son, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson), but also learning that Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) is his grandson; both revelations came out at the 2025 Nurses Ball. On top of all that, he’s still trying to exit the mob and find out who was behind his penthouse explosion, many months ago.
The last thing on Sonny’s mind would be to save a baby quail; however, if Donna Corinthos (Scarlett Spears) or Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) suggested it (or any of his younger grandchildren), he’d like jump at the occasion.
