There’s some speculation that suggests the mob storylines might end once Sonny is gone. That’s because no one can replace Sonny as a mob boss.
Sure, some people have thought of Michael, Dante or Kristina, but it just won’t be the same.
After Sonny, the mob elements on the show would be gone. Maurice Benard is a good actor but it would be out of character for anyone else to take over the mob business.
Of course, the internet certainly did have a lot to say about the matter.
Some even commented with, “The Mob Storylines are up to the producers and writers and for the past recent years they haven’t exactly focused on it. I’d say 2020 was the last great mob story/era with Cyrus being introduced and I remember the promos being on fire.”
What’s Next For Port Charles?
“And for a while I think many would agree that Chad Duell’s Michael was destined to step up Into Sonny’s place. He even attended a Mob meeting in 2015 for Sonny when he was in the hospital.”
Another critic wrote, “Sonny Corinthos predates Tony soprano by a number of years. He’s been in Port Charles off and on (more on than off tbh) since 1993 and The Sopranos didn’t start until 1999, so nothing about that show spurred GH to bring in the mob.”
“In fact, the mob had been around off and on on GH since at least 1980 when Luke and Laura had to go on the run from Frank Smith.”
