Julie Chrisley Stunned as Son Grayson Sets Harsh Boundaries on TV
Julie Chrisley has noticed a powerful shift in her youngest son, Grayson. The 52-year-old reality star recently reacted to her son’s decision to set firm boundaries while filming The Chrisleys: Back to Reality. In a September 1 episode, Grayson refused to play a recording of a message from his mother—embedded in a stuffed bear she gave him before reporting to prison in 2023.
“I commend Grayson,” Julie told Today in an interview published September 10. “I love that he was able to set those boundaries because that’s very important. I’m so proud of him for that.”

Grayson, now 19, made his reasoning clear. “I’m not playing it,” he told producers. “I don’t want to listen to it. I feel like that’s the last private thing I have. We give the cameras everything—that’s one thing I won’t.” His words carried extra weight considering he has lived under public scrutiny since he was a child.
Todd and Julie, who also share Chase, Savannah, and Chloe, have experienced their own shift in outlook since their prison sentences and subsequent pardons in May 2025.
Todd, now 56, told E! News that incarceration gave him clarity. “I’m not as focused on you thinking we’re perfect. I have a greater peace within myself,” he explained.
The Chrisleys’ rise to fame began with Chrisley Knows Best in 2014, showcasing their extravagant lifestyle and family drama. The show spawned spin-offs, including Growing Up Chrisley and What’s Cooking With Julie?
But their empire unraveled in 2022, when Todd and Julie were convicted of fraud and tax evasion. Todd was sentenced to 12 years, Julie to seven, before both were pardoned by President Donald Trump in May 2025.
The family’s history is layered with triumphs and struggles. Todd, born in Georgia in 1969, first found success in real estate. He and first wife Teresa Terry welcomed daughter Lindsie in 1989 and son Kyle in 1991 before divorcing. In 1996, Todd married Julie, who grew up in South Carolina and once worked at a bank. Together they raised Chase (1996), Savannah (1997), and Grayson (2006), while later adopting Kyle’s daughter, Chloe.
Over the years, viewers saw Julie battle breast cancer, Savannah compete in pageants, and Chase explore business ventures. Meanwhile, Kyle faced addiction struggles but sought reconciliation with his parents after their release. Lindsie, who left the show in 2017, has remained estranged from her family despite brief reconciliations.
Savannah, perhaps the most public of the siblings, took custody of Grayson and Chloe during her parents’ imprisonment. She became their advocate while continuing her own career as a real estate agent and podcast host. “Being a bonus parent is TOUGH,” she admitted, but her bond with her younger siblings only deepened.
Chase, once engaged to Emmy Medders, has faced both romantic ups and legal turbulence, including a 2025 arrest in Atlanta that his lawyers insist was exaggerated. Still, he continues to run entrepreneurial ventures while standing by his family.
Grayson, now studying at the University of Alabama, continues to adapt to adulthood in the spotlight. Despite growing up on television, he’s learning to define his own boundaries, a maturity Julie celebrates.
As for Chloe, now 12, she remains the light of the family. Known affectionately as “CoCo,” she has been raised largely by Todd and Julie since her adoption in 2016. During their prison sentences, Savannah stepped into the role of guardian, proudly sharing Chloe’s vibrant personality with fans.
And then there’s “Nanny” Faye, Todd’s beloved mother, whose humor and resilience made her a fan favorite on Chrisley Knows Best. Despite health struggles, including a bladder cancer diagnosis in 2021, she has embraced life with her signature optimism.
The Chrisleys’ journey has been anything but conventional: fame, scandal, separation, reconciliation, and survival. Now, as Todd and Julie rebuild their lives after prison, their children are carving their own paths—sometimes together, sometimes apart.
Julie’s pride in Grayson is emblematic of the family’s new chapter: one where boundaries are respected, personal growth is prioritized, and perfection is no longer the goal. Instead, the Chrisleys are striving for authenticity—both on screen and off.
