GH’s Cameron Mathison Warns That Drew’s ‘Gonna Go Out and Hurt Some People’

You know that old saying, “It’s all over but the crying?” Well, when it comes to Monica’s death on General Hospital, we’re pretty sure it’s the reverse. The crying was just the start — now comes the fury!

Monica’s will has been read and her family frozen out in favor of her instasister, Ronnie. It feels a little too convenient for Ronnie to be legitimate, but that’s neither here nor there — especially for Quartermaine black sheep, Drew!

How Far Will Drew Go?

When Soaps spoke with Cameron Mathison, he explained what Monica meant to him, even estranged as they were at the end. “Monica’s death is incredibly traumatizing for him,” admitted Mathison. “Regardless of whether or not she raised him, she called him her son. He called her his mom. There was a really, really important bond there for Drew.”

But sadly, that relationship soured towards the end. “As time went on and Drew sort of went down his own path,” the actor continued, “a distance formed between he and Monica. That was hard on Drew, and they never got a chance to reconcile before her death.”

And now that he’s not just lost his chance at reconciling with the one person in the family who welcomed him and he’s been cut out of her will entirely, as Drew’s portrayer explained to Soap Opera Digest, “there’s a lot of pain and there’s a lot of anger.” The Quartermaines never really accepted him into the family and what may have been his last chance to be, at least in some way, a part of it, is gone.

“It’s Drew against the world,” Mathison told Digest, “and Drew against the Quartermaines, specifically.” At the end of the day, “He is definitely hurt from this experience, and he’s gonna go out and hurt some people! Or at least manipulate them and retaliate against them.”

Of course, if this will does turn out to be a fake and Monica does end up showing Drew she still loved him in the real one, it could maybe, possibly convince Drew to reevaluate his life and his thirst for revenge. But even if that happens, it may be too late to repair the damage he’s about to do!
