All Trick, No Treat: Y&R Reactivates One of Its Scariest Villains of All Time

Over the years, since he first appeared as Ian Ward, Ray Wise has brought his devilish character back to The Young and the Restless various times.

The last time we saw the menace was back on January 30 when Ian cheated death after he’d been shot while struggling over a gun with Victor.

Though everyone believed Ian had been out of their lives for good this time, while taken by ambulance, Ian opened his eyes — and right at that moment, viewers knew we hadn’t seen the last of him.

And today, those watching the October 21 episode got a glimpse at the man again but this time, through Mariah’s visions. It all started after Mariah got upset while talking to Sharon on the phone. She asked her to come to visit but when Sharon hesitated, due to what was going on with Noah, Mariah got upset, said, “Never mind, it’s alright,” then hung up.

Looking at the Queens of Hearts, Mariah began sobbing until someone appeared and took the seat across from her. Yep, it was Ian, wearing a priest collar, who stated, “It looks like you’re in one of your moods. Are you feeling lost and alone again, Mariah?”

Given her past visions and vulnerable state, this probably won’t be good for Mariah. However, like with all soapy villains, their added drama is something we love to hate! Review Ian’s litany of crimes in our eyebrow-raising photo gallery.
