B&B/ Top Models: Harrison Cone joins the series as the first gay male couple

It’s a historic announcement for the American soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. The production confirmed the arrival of actor Harrison Cone ,

who will play one of the two characters in the first-ever gay male couple in the series’ history. Airing since 1987, the family saga had never before explored this type of male romantic relationship, a turning point that is already generating a lot of reaction from fans.

Harrison Cone, a promising young actor

Harrison Cone , 22, is still relatively unknown to the general public, but he has already made his mark in productions such as Hacks , American Horror Stories and The Summer I Turned Pretty .

In The Bold and the Beautiful , he will play a young fashion designer who will soon cross paths with Remy Pryce , a character recently introduced and played by Christian Weissmann .

Together, they will form the first gay male couple on the series. The first episodes featuring this duo are expected to air from  September 16, 2025 in the United States.

A symbolic step forward for the series

Since its inception, The Bold and the Beautiful has often addressed social issues. We particularly remember the storyline surrounding Maya Avant ( Karla Mosley ), the first transgender woman to be married on an American soap opera, or the story of Karen Spencer , who came out as a lesbian in the 2010s. 

Yet, despite its 38-year run, the series had never before featured a male same-sex couple. 

Harrison Cone ‘s arrival and his character’s evolution alongside Remy mark a significant milestone in LGBTQ+ representation on television.

While The Bold and the Beautiful / Top Models is taking a new step with a gay male couple, other American soaps have already paved the way for better LGBTQ+ representation.

For several years, The  Young and the Restless has featured the couple Mariah Copeland ( Camryn Grimes ) and Tessa Porter ( Cait Fairbanks ), whose romance culminated in a wedding celebrated in 2022 and which has won over many viewers.

Even earlier, in 2010, All My Children made a splash with the couple Bianca Montgomery ( Eden Riegel ) and Reese Williams ( Tamara Braun ), one of the first same-gender marriages shown on a soap opera in the United States.

While the relationship has sometimes been criticized for its narrative treatment, it remains a historical milestone, showing that soap operas can reflect the evolution of society and offer inclusive and striking storylines.

In 2011, on Days of Our Lives , Will Horton and Sonny Kiriakis became the first regular gay male couple on an American soap opera , with long-lasting storylines and an official marriage, marking a milestone for LGBTQ+ representation in this genre of series.

What public reception?

While some American viewers are already welcoming this decision as a welcome step forward, others are more cautious and are wondering how the production will handle this plot.

The quality of the writing, the accuracy of the dialogue, and the importance given to the couple in the main plots will be crucial to making this progress credible and meaningful.

It’s questionable that Remy Pryce , a character introduced as Electra Forrester ‘s ( Laneya Grace ) stalker , is now being claimed as a gay character. We at Soap-Passion hope that the character will be treated with the respect and relevance he deserves.

Regardless, the promise of a first gay kiss on screen in a soap as iconic as The Bold and the Beautiful  sparks curiosity and debate.

And for the French-speaking public?

In France and French-speaking countries, episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful / Top Models are broadcast several months apart. We’ll have to wait a while before we see this new storyline on screen.

But there’s no doubt the announcement will interest the many fans who have faithfully followed the adventures of the Forrester, Logan, and Spencer families for decades. This first male same-sex relationship promises to be one of the highlights of the 2025-2026 season.
