Bryton James’ Ex Wife Wants Spousal Support, Reveals Y&R Monthly Salary
Bryton James, widely known for his long-running role as Devon Hamilton on The Young and the Restless, has recently made headlines after the finalization of his divorce from Jahaira Myers. Although the couple officially ended their marriage, new financial disputes have brought them back into the spotlight.
Their marriage was very short-lived, lasting less than a year. The couple separated only a few months after tying the knot in 2025, and their divorce was legally finalized in March 2026. However, even after the court officially ended the marriage, legal issues did not stop there.
Shortly after the divorce was completed, Jahaira Myers filed a request for spousal support. She claims that her income as a professional dancer is unstable and unpredictable. According to her statements, she depends on short-term gigs, live performances, and touring opportunities, which means her monthly earnings fluctuate heavily.
In her filing, Jahaira also argues that maintaining her career requires constant training, auditions, and unpaid preparation work. Because of this, she says she is unable to maintain the same standard of living she had during the marriage without financial assistance.
One of the key points in the case is the income difference between the two. Jahaira reportedly earns around $1,150 per week before taxes, while she claims Bryton James earns over $34,000 per month through his acting work, including his long-term role on The Young and the Restless.
Bryton, on the other hand, had previously requested that no spousal support be awarded to either party during the divorce proceedings. In fact, the final divorce judgment initially removed the courtβs authority to assign spousal support.
Despite this, Jahairaβs new filing attempts to reopen the issue, arguing that her financial situation justifies ongoing support. This has created renewed tension between the former couple, even after their official separation.
The situation highlights how even short marriages in the entertainment industry can lead to complex financial disputes, especially when there is a significant income gap between partners. For now, the court will decide whether Bryton James will be required to provide monthly support or whether the original divorce terms will remain unchanged.
