Days of our Lives Did Stephanie Actually 𝚂𝚑𝚘𝚘𝚝 Joy Here Is The Whole Truth!

It’s finally here! From the moment Days of Our Lives planted Stephanie shooting an innocent victim months ago, and gave her a gun, we knew what was coming. It’s Chekhov’s gun in its most literal form.

The principle is named after playwright Anton Chekhov and boils down to the idea that if a gun is included in a story, there has to be a reason for it, like it eventually being fired at some point. Well, Stephanie fired her gun… right at Joy! 

None of this is a surprise. Even if Chekhov’s gun wasn’t a thing, we’d have seen this coming from a mile away. Besides, Days of Our Lives‘ own previews teased it!

But we’re still downright shocked at how this is going down — mainly because it looks like there won’t be a whole lot that comes from this!

We already know from spoilers that by tomorrow, Alex will be trying to lower the temperature between Stephanie and Joy. And the summer preview showed us a health crisis for Kelsey that we haven’t gotten to yet.

So either Steph misses completely, or Joy gets little more than a scratch.

What? How could there be a big shooting story that’s been telegraphed for months that amounts to nothing?

Yes, there clearly will be repercussions and Alex and Stephanie’s relationship will be strained even more. And Stephanie’s PTSD progress is going to be set back. But this just feels like such a waste.

It’s not that we’re advocating for Joy to be killed, or even shot, but Days of Our Lives set this moment up ages ago, before she even returned to Salem.

As soon as Stephanie got the gun and refused to exercise even the slightest modicum of safety with it, we knew she’d be accidentally shooting someone.

Except we thought that she’d, you know, shoot someone! Now that Stephanie’s fired the gun, everyone’s going to know she wasn’t being safe and she won’t have that opportunity again.

Instead of high stakes drama where she hits someone, they get rushed to the hospital, Stephanie’s beside herself at what she’s done while we wait to see if they live or die, it sounds like we’re about to get… Angry Joy?

An obvious plot point coming up wouldn’t be such a bad thing if the stakes were high and payoff full of drama. Imagine if Stephanie nearly killed Joy. How would Alex move forward with her? Or heck, imagine if Stephanie killed Joy!

Alex would have to raise Kelsey on his own, but how could he possibly do that married to the woman who accidentally killed the tot’s mother?

There will be fallout from this, and it’s going to shake Stephanie, Alex and Joy. And if Friday’s spoilers are any indication, Joy may be pressing charges. But we really thought (or at least hoped) that it would all go down differently.
