Eric Braeden (Victor Newman from Y&R) announces that he has cancer
Bad news for the iconic actor from The Young and the Restless.
Actor Eric Braeden shared an update on his health with his fans during a Facebook Live video.
The actor, who has played Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless for over 40 years, underwent knee surgery a few months ago, and it was around this time that he began experiencing prostate problems.
Eric Braeden, 82, shared details, explaining that over time, he had experienced difficulty urinating. He had to consult a urologist several times before the problem was finally diagnosed: prostate cancer. He shared these personal details so that other men would be informed about the condition. “It can happen to them,” he said.
As fans might expect, Eric Braeden added, “Needless to say, I was surprised, but I was determined to face it.” He underwent surgery, followed by a biopsy. Unfortunately, the examination revealed high-grade cancer cells.
Currently, the actor is undergoing immunotherapy. He explained that the side effects are similar to those of the flu.
At the end of the video, Eric Braeden, determined to beat his illness, thanked fans for their support. “I’m going to make it, and soon I’ll be back to my old self! I’m always happy to be working; it keeps me entertained. I love performing. I love knowing I’m entertaining people. Thank you for your support. It means a lot.”
