General Hospital’s About to Tell a Story That It 100 Percent Should Not, Our One Hope

General Hospital fans saw it coming a mile away: After sleeping with both Curtis and Isaiah, Portia took a pregnancy test. The result? Positive. The response to the twist? Negative.

The reaction is altogether understandable. It’s just silly to think that an intelligent woman like Portia would have unprotected sex with not one but two men — and after she already endured a “Who’s Trina’s daddy?” storyline. On top of all that, she’s a doctor, for crying out loud! She knows how babies are made.

“No, no, a thousand times no!” exclaimed MsBert in the comments following Tuesday’s recap (which you can read here). “Portia being pregnant is a solid no, never, no way! I’m not sure I can survive months of her hand-wringing and whining! Maybe it’s a false positive, and she has a tumor… Please let it be so!”

Not sure if we wanna go rooting for brain tumors. But other viewers were quick to suggest that a positive pregnancy test didn’t necessarily mean that Portia was expecting. “Maybe Portia’s pregnancy-test result is false-positive,” J.M. posited. “Dizziness is not the only symptom Portia had recently. When she assisted Lucas with Drew’s surgery, she looked unresponsive for a short time. Maybe she was having a seizure and has a serious medical condition.”

Gert Finkelhoffer added that “early menopause can interfere with OTC pregnancy tests!” BlackCat cheered, “Yes, it can. If only the writers would surprise us.”

Do you think Portia is really pregnant?

We wouldn’t put it past General Hospital to throw us a curveball. After all, the show has done it before — a lot. It’s resurrected everyone from Jason to Britt to Nathan, and turned Mr. Nice Guy Drew into the scum of the earth!
